Quilt and Meta Muse
Meta Muse is Meta's personal AI agent, powered by its Muse Spark model. Quilt and Muse are both personal agents. They differ most in where the agent runs.
| Topic | Quilt | Meta Muse |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A personal AI agent for your mail, messages, calendar and meeting notes. You talk to it as Q. Invite-only. | Meta's personal AI agent, called Muse. Meta says it is powered by its Muse Spark model and does tasks for you, not only answers.1 |
| Where it runs | A Windows desktop app and an iPhone app. Q is on all three of its screens: Q, Inbox and Calendar. How it works | iPhone, Android, the web and WhatsApp, plus a Mac app. Meta's launch announcement lists the US for the rollout, and its help pages say Muse is in limited testing and not in all locations.137 |
| What it connects to | Gmail and Outlook email and calendars, plus Slack and WhatsApp chats, kept together in one Inbox and one Calendar. | Connectors including Gmail and other Google services, with access you choose for each. On a Mac it can summarize messages, notes, reminders, email and calendar events, with Off, Read only, or Read and interact set for each app.36 |
| Where your data is processed and stored | Your calendar, meeting notes and Q's memory are stored on your devices, with an index of your mail. When Hey Q uses a cloud model, the request goes from your device straight to Anthropic, using your own Claude key. Email text never goes to Quilt's own AI. Privacy Max turns off all cloud help, including Hey Q. Exactly what goes where | Each person's agent and information run in a cloud virtual machine that Meta runs, which it calls Muse Secure VM, kept separate from other users. Meta says it plans a Confidential VM with keys held by the user later this year.12 |
| Training on your data | Quilt never trains on your data. During the alpha, Q uses your own Claude key, so Anthropic's terms for API keys apply to requests made with it. Quilt's servers are not in that path. Details | The setting that lets Meta use your interactions for AI development is on when you start, and you can turn it off at any time. If you leave it on, Meta removes some personal identifiers first.5 |
| Acting for you | A cloud model only suggests steps. Q can draft and propose, and cannot send, pay, post or delete. You press send. Inbox changes show a preview, apply when you tap, and can be undone. | Muse takes actions for you. In Settings, 'Ask for some actions' asks before every write action and important read actions, and 'Always ask' asks before any action. An activity log lists what it did. Meta notes that some actions, such as sending an email, cannot be undone.4 |
| Meeting notes | Yes, on Windows. Q listens on your computer and nothing joins the call. It asks before each meeting, and gives you summary, decisions and to-dos afterward. How it works | We did not find a meeting notes feature in the pages Meta has published for Muse (checked 2026-10-11).16 |
| Availability | Invite-only for now, on Windows and iPhone. Free during the alpha. | A free plan with a usage limit, plus paid plans called Power and Maximum for heavier use. Meta says Muse is in limited testing and not available in all locations.7 |
Where Meta Muse fits well
- You want an agent that keeps working in the background after you close the app and can use the apps you connect.
- You already live in WhatsApp and want to reach your agent there.
- You like per-connector approval settings and an activity log.
- You use a Mac or an Android phone. Quilt does not run on them yet.
Where Quilt fits well
- You want your agent's memory to live on your own devices, not in a hosted virtual machine.
- You want mail, messages, calendar and meeting notes in one place.
- You want a cloud model to only suggest steps while your device does the work.
What Quilt cannot do yet. It is new, invite-only and runs on Windows and iPhone only, with no Mac, Android or web app. It has no team or shared-inbox features and it connects to fewer outside services than most products on these pages. During the alpha, bring your own Claude key.
